The Securities Commission has revised and published on its website the Guidelines on Issuance of Corporate Bonds and Sukuk to Retail Investors on 26 November 2019. The revision includes but not limited to updating definitions, amending paragraphs to reflect the revised ruling of the Shariah Advisory Council (SAC), and adding new paragraphs under the Sustainable and Responsible Investment (SRI) Sukuk chapter.
Some of the highlights of the new revision are;
- Amended paragraph on Waiver of sukukholder’s right in Additional Tier 1 (AT1) sukuk and Tier 2 sukuk to reflect the new ruling of the SAC:
- A new definition of SRI sukuk has been introduced to provide clarification on the terminology used:
- Revised categories of eligible SRI projects in line with international standards:
